I was wondering if anyone ever had something like this happen. I was fixing a broken wire in the door and checking fuses for that original problem, I don't think this problem is related, it seemed to happen around the same time, though I did not notice it until later in the day. I have checked all fuses and they are fine so I am not sure what the issue is. I would be grateful for any information thanks. Just had it replaced today at the dealer. I think it's a fairly easy fix to replace the pressure switch.

My suggestion is to do the easy things first: clean the grounds. They can cause all type of odd issues. The grounds that typically cause the most issues are the ones near the battery and air box. Use dielectic grease during reassembly. While you are in that area.

I have a 45 minute commute to work, all highway, and usually have to turn the temp control down after about the first minutes of driving, but this week, with the temp control turned all the way, my car never seems to get past lukewarm.
This morning on my drive I turned the vent selector to the AC vents, and tried adjusting the temp control all the way to cold, mid-range, and then hot - seems that no matter where I put it, I get the same lukewarm air out of the vents.
It seems that I've lost the ability to adjust the temperature, and it's just stuck at a lukewarm level? This literally just started this week - was on a trip to Chicago last weekend in single digit temperatures and the heat worked just fine for the entire trip. Has anyone experienced this? Any possible solutions? Ok - tried a few more things on my drive home tonight. Still blowing lukewarm air, and from what I can tell the compressor never engaged.
So, no matter where I set the temperature gauge, I get lukewarm air - whether the AC is on or not. Turning recirculate on makes it get mildly warmer. Fan works on all speeds, and it properly switches between floor, dash vents, defrost vents, etc. Any advice? Is there a fuse somewhere to check? In searching, I see several mentions of sensors - are there temperature sensors on a car with manual climate controls?
Temperature gauge sits atand coolant level is good. I don't have a Windows based computer to run the normal software. Since it's impacting both the heater and the AC, I'm doubting it's a plugged heater core - the compressor doesn't engage when I put the AC on either. Do note though, that the replacement upgrade heater matrix we offer here already has this valve built in, so will require the removal and bypass of the original valve in the engine bay. The matrix works like a mini radiator and the non-return valve prevents it from exploding.
Heater resistor If the heater on your Mk1 or 2 Golf only works on setting 3 the chances are the resistor on the fan pack behind the dash has failed. The resistor is on the back of the blower connector so follow the blower wires to the heater fan housing. They should be attached to a connector on a metal plate on the front of the blower housing, so disconnect it.
This plate will prise free with a screwdriver, but be careful not to snap the clips as they break very easily. Mk1 fan foibles If your Mk1 Golf has been sat for a while, water may have run in from the scuttle panel, and started to rust the bearings causing the fan motor to seize; so when you switch it on, nothing will happen and the fuse will blow! If the old blower needs to come out it must be removed from the inside, where it lives in the centre housing beneath the dashboard — sadly it is slightly too big to be removed out the top and through a non-smoothed engine bay the firewall gets in the way!

Sounds like your heater matrix has given up — check the passenger footwell, and see if it is wet. Matrix ok. Pump ok. Both thermostats changed. In fact according to the service station I used recently everything is checking out ok.
What year or model is the car Charles? There should be a way of stopping the coolant travelling into the matrix, and thus turning the heating off. Apparently my golf has everything working fine ie electrics,flaps, matrix new pump,two new thermostats,all pipes heating up as they should.

If I have the temperature dial set to cold, then cold air from the outside comes in. If I press the aircon button, then the compressor kicks in and the cold air turns icy and all works as it should. However, as soon as I adjust the temperature dial by just one or two clicks, it has the effect of turning the temperature up to max i.
The same happens regardless of whether the aircon button is pressed or not, and regardless of what fan speed I set the dial to. So basically, I can either have cold air same temp as outside air coming into the cabin, ice cold aircon air entering the cabin, or full on sweat-your-nutsack-off maximum heat setting air entering the cabin.
This has been doing it for some time. During the summer its not been a problem as I've always got the temp set to min.

The electronic control regulates the temperature of the fresh air intake to reach the set value as quickly as possible and then maintain it constantly.
Im wondering if the "interior sensor" mentioned in the above has gone faulty? I've tried googling, but cannot find where this sensor is located.

VIP Member. T6 Legend. Sounds about right! That said you are right it does seem to be hot or cold not much in between really. Worst heating of any vehicle I have owned - impossible to keep at a constant.
T6 Pro. Mine is the same. There is no consistently between the position of the dial and the temperature.
Its a thermostatic type of heater- so if the vans a tad cold inside first thing as soon as you move the heater dial even 1mm from cold your get full heat until the sensor warms up.
As the interior warms up the heat backs off to maintain the setting.
